History of the company
Our company ELCOM was founded in 1990 by Mr. Jiri Holoubek and Mr. Vladimir Korenc.
The original aim was to create high-end Engineering and Consulting Centre in power electrical engineering branch that is specialized in reactive power compensation, electromagnetic compatibility and optimalization of an electrical energy consumption. Very high demand for the high quality service and especially for devices from this field created a solid base for the progressive expansion in coming years.
In 1992 were activities enlarged to the field of AC regulated drives and electromotors. In the same year the company started providing power electro-installations and manufacturing its own product in a rented area of MEZ Nedvedice. One year later was a design office in Ostrava founded. In that time, company covered already four place in the Czech Republic - Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Nedvedice. In 1996 was company transformed from the existing limited company to the joint stock company.
Very successful project BK500® - Power Network Analyzer - was the starting point for the coming cooperation with a Department of Measurements of Technical University of Ostrava. This cooperation gave a birth in 1997 to the Division of Virtual Instrumentation, where has been project BK500® developing up to now..
In 1998 was bought factory in the town Bystrice nad Pernstejnem and all the manufacturing of the company was moved there.
Nowadays ELCOM is successfully walking on in the third millennium with its five divisions and more than hundred employees.

ELCOM, Inc. has been making business in the field of power electrical engineering, energy engineering, virtual instrumentation and it is divided to the five divisions and the unit that is ensuring trading, organizational administration, bookkeeping and accounting.
Division of Applied Electronics
Division of Applied Electronics with HQ in Prague and Brno have been working on research, development and production of special power electronic devices, especially supply sources for Czech Railways and public transport. Usually sources are designed according to customer's demands and requirements. We have experiences with delivering of sources for laboratories or for applications working at non-standard supplying network (e.g. 60Hz). Into another chapter belong DC pulse sources designed for e.g. galvanization with high regulation accuracy. Generally we can deliver any source using any input voltage and frequency with any voltage, number of phases and frequency on the output side in the power range from 0.1 kVA u to 1000 kVA.
Division of Drives and Motors
Division of Drives and Motors with HQ in Prague is specialized workplace for delivering of electromotors and whole drives, mainly in explosion-proof design. In this branch we are accredited dealer for Czech Republic of LOHER . To other activities belongs delivering of ABB frequency converters up to 20 MW. It offers very fast delivering of standby motors in case of breakdown from European storeroom database. In cooperation with other divisions of our company is possible to deliver drives on „turn key basis“, i.e. with design project, distribution devices, implementation into control and visualization technology system, and verification of effects to the supply network according to all standards.
Division of Realization and Design
Divisio of Realization and Design with HQ in Brno and Ostrava specializes in compensations for low and high voltage levels and complex delivering of substations. We are offering wide experiences in analysis of supplying network, measurements for operation's optimalization and EMC. We undertake the project planning and designing, coordination of constructions, and specialized electrical work on all voltage levels with highly qualified workers. We can provide all kind of engineering supervisions as well as complex and final guarantee tests especially in water supply, metallurgy and glass industry.
Division of Manufacturing
Division of Manufacturing is located in the industrial area of the town Bystrice nad Pernstejnem. It serves as a production and material-logistic unit unit for all other division. Production is oriented above all at LV and HV switchboards and compensates switchboards. Important role plays manufacturing of protective inductors for compensators. Very successful is cooperation with Division of Applied Electronics in the field of special power electronic devices e.g. Universal Supply Sources for Czech Railways.
Division of Virtual Instrumentation
Division of Virtual Instrumentation is the youngest division and was founded in Science and Technological Park in Ostrava, near to Technical University of Ostrava. Division is closely cooperating with the Department of Measurements and Information Technologies. It provides services in the system integration, designing and delivering of measuring and testing workstationst hat are based on virtual instrumentation. It produces special power network analyzer (project BK) for an Austrian company DEWETRON . Major segment of its activities is focused on visualization of technological processes. One unit is generating drivers for new measurement instruments instruments for Hewlett-Packard, Rohde&Schwarz, Marconi, LeCroy, etc... Whole division is closely linked to National Instruments in USA.
