Additional Features

Test systems sometimes perform some other operations that are not directly related with the test product. These operations are either subject to the technology of the products, the requirements of the manufacturing process or the requirements for the configurability and serviceability of the test system:

Smaller manufacturing operations

Smaller manufacturing operations such as screwing, clipping (pressing in order to snap the tabs on the cover), bending the terminals of the product, etc.

Registration information

Writing test information into the memory of the product, or writing a complete software product (sometimes called Flashing - program stored in EEPROM).

Locking the product

Locking a product, which was evaluated by the test system as faulty. A locked product in the mechanism of the tester is because the operator accidentally allowed the defective product to pass through the manufacturing process or to expedition. Unlocking the product can be done by someone else, such as a shift supervisor or quality engineer, who at the same time repeats the test or sends the defective product to laboratory.


The product is clamped by pneumatic cylinders. Upon detection of a defective product cylinders can be extruded thereby preventing the removal of the product.

The labeling of the product

Product marking or printing of a self-adhesive label, which happens usually after completion of the test. Label or labeling can be done automatically or manually by the operator if the operator has enough time to stick on the label.

Initiation of the product

Initiation of the product, eg. forming a dielectric (the first capacitor charge after its manufacture, which must take place under certain conditions specified by technologists).

Track Changes

Monitoring changes in the test sequence and its parameters, which aims to find out who and when changed the setting of the test system.

Service functions

The service functions of the test system are entered by password or an unlock service mode using the keys. Service functions are used to repair machines or to validate functions of its parts that are unavailable for normal operation. In service mode it is possible to open the machine covers to route some dangerous state variables of the connector body machines (high voltage) control software of some partial function and read the values of the internal state variables. Work on the equipment in service mode when there is a certain danger can only be performed by trained competent persons. Such hazards include the risk of electric shock, being caught in moving parts or the possibility of burns from hot parts. Further, there may be a risk of damage from mishandling the test system with automatic movements (robot crashing into the machine structure) or damage to the product, such as inadvertently increasing the voltage supply.
